Meaghan Good, Class of 2023

Meaghan is in her third year studying Technology Management (IT). She has been involved with many associations, including Women in IT (WIT), Tech Management Student Association (TMSA), and the Business and IT Student Society (BITSoc). She is eager to start her position as the Vice President of Student Life at the Ontario Tech Student Union (OTSU) beginning this summer!

Meaghan's Leadership at Ontario Tech

In 2018, I started Women in IT (WIT) with some classmates in Networking and IT Security and took on the role of Co-President. While leading WIT, I realized I wanted to make more of an impact within the FBIT community. Once I got back from Durham College, where I obtained my Computer Systems Technician Diploma, I started to develop multiple soft skills and met the most amazing friends.

In 2020, my leadership experience began with:

  • Business and IT Student Society | Associate Communications Officer (2020/2021)

  • Women in IT | Advisor (2020/2021)

In May of 2021, I switched roles and became the Chief Communications Officer on BITSoc, President on Women in IT and started Technology Management Student Association as the Co-Founder and Co-President. All three positions this year have helped me grow as an individual, make new friends, and improve my leadership, communication, and time management skills. They have opened the doors to me being elected as the Vice President of Student Life at the OTSU come May 2022 - April 2023.

Meaghan’s Advice

If you are nervous or don't know where to start, reach out to professors, associations, school clubs, or the OTSU. One of the ways you can begin developing your soft skills and getting involved is by making yourself uncomfortable for a quick minute talking to executives. Afterwards, the team you will be on will make it one of the most enjoyable experiences you'll ever have during your university experience!
